Wave retrieval methodology in the MIZ using SAR has been investigated mostly based on the  very  good  quality  Sentinel1  wave  mode  observations  in  the  South  Pacific  acquired  during  summer  and  fall  2014,  leading  to  a  new  retrieval  methodology  based  on  the analysis  of  linear  feature  distortion  by  the  velocity  bunching  imaging  mechanism.
